SKAGEN Funds gets FINMA approval in Switzerland

06/04/2011
SKAGEN Funds has received permission from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) to market its funds in Switzerland.
SKAGEN Funds has received permission from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA) to market its Norwegian domiciled funds SKAGEN Global, SKAGEN Kon-Tiki, SKAGEN Vekst and SKAGEN Tellus in Switzerland.
In addition to its home markets in the Nordic countries, SKAGEN Funds currently markets its funds in Luxembourg, the Netherlands and the UK. The decision to expand operations into Switzerland was based on a growing interest and demand from Swiss investors.

“Thanks to strong returns for our existing clients and excellent ratings for our funds, we have experienced increasing interest from the Swiss market over the past few years. We are delighted to now have the necessary permission in place to be able to actively respond to these enquiries, and hope to slowly start building up our activities in Switzerland”, says Tim Warrington, Head of International in SKAGEN.

The defining ambition of SKAGEN is to provide clients with the best possible risk adjusted return at the same time as offering the best possible client service and communication.  Asset gathering has never been, and never will be, a goal for SKAGEN.  As it has previously done in its other international markets, SKAGEN plans to develop its footprint in Switzerland in a controlled and measured manner. Initially a team of three SKAGEN employees will service Switzerland remotely from our International office based in Stavanger, Norway, responding to client enquiries and servicing existing clients as required.

“We look forward to learning more about Switzerland and to meeting interesting potential clients and partners”, says Tim Warrington. “With its long tradition of excellence in financial services, we are confident that we can learn a lot from the Swiss market; lessons that we can recycle to the benefit of all our clients.”
